GPRS modem with Windown mobile 5 device (imate SP5)
Out Of The Box OS X 10.4.7 (which is what I have) does not work with windows mobile GPRS modem devices.. You ned a new modem script..
See steps below on how to setup GPRS via bluetooth using winmobile5 (tested on my imate SP5) and tmobile in US:
1) Run the SystemPref: Bluetooth:Setup New Device wizard and ensure you select the "use mobile as modem" setting
2) Pair your mobile and ensure the connection is working (have to turn on discoverable on mobile, etc, etc)
3) Install the winmobile gprs script
a) get it from here http://www.taniwha.org.uk/files/iPAQ-GSM-2005-04.sit
b) Unzip zipfile and copy the script into /Library/Modem Scripts
4) Quit your SystemPref app and restart it (otherwise new script potentially not picked up..)
5) Run the SystemPref:Network:New Location - name "GPRS via mobile bluetooth"
6) Deselect all devices except bluetooth then Show:Bluetooth
a) PPP tab: For tmobile set phone#=*99# and enter anything in username and password (note other carriers than tmobile might require you to enter data - cingular requires user=WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM, pwd=CINGULAR)
b) select PPP options and unchekc TCP header compression
c) Go Bluetooth tab and select the iPAQ GSM modem, uncheck error correction and wait for dialtone
7) Save
8) Now in the menu bar select the modem icon (phone set) and connect - you will now get on network
